Bashar Barakah Jackson was born on July 20, 1999, in Brooklyn, New York, to the Jamaican mom and the Panamanian parent. He started his music business in 2018, initially remixing favorite songs within the NYC
drill music scene, before embarking on creating original music. In a Genius interview, he said that his artist name “Pop Smoke” is a combination of the nicknames he had when a child. “Pop” was the way his grandmother called him, and “Smoke” a nickname given to him by childhood friends. His most popular song “DIOR” has more than 58 million views on YouTube.
On Wednesday morning, February 19th, up-and-coming Brooklyn singer Pop Smoke was shot and killed in the house he was renting in Hollywood. Pop was on the vanguard of Brooklyn’s exploding training move, Paving this way with hits like “Invited to this Occasion” and “Dior”.
His second mix tape “Meet that Woo 2” came out on February 7th, almost two weeks before his death. Recent investigation shows that the 20-year-old’s murder have been released.
